Solve the missing physical middle between generic gyms & exclusive, high-cost clinics. Observation: people measure more than ever before, sleep, HRV, fitness, diet, CGM, dexa, biomarkers, but nothing there is NO weekly checkpoint that turns data into atomic habits. Apps are digital, clinics are episodic (annual)... MAYBE the world needs a Formula 1 pit stop that helps anchor healthspan routine. We know healthspan lifestyle compounds when measurements are (routine), easily accessible (cues) and socially fun (rewards). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ exactly, the energy from tgi was contagious and it was self-guided by peers. Not judgmental, no "class" warfareโฆ (avoidign the BJ debate pitfall). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ exactly, founders, runners, cyclists, stanford students and bay area workers are already collecting and ChatGPTing their data. Probably a strong latent demand hidden among these folks, especially millennials are entering their middle age. -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ unit economic has to be lean, ideally tap into a space where many weekend warriors are hanging out and near a public park, so folks can hang and chat w/o needing a large retail footprint. (keeping the dwell time low is key, too many blue bottle folks buy 1 cup spend 3 hours). -
Tools: can we get consumer grade metabolic & performance tools w/o licensed doctors or nurse (answer should be yes). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ GE Lunar machine, $14k, Hologic Horizons $35k. -
Hard questions to answer: how to avoid the hype/vibe of yet another wellness cafe (Barry's cafe, wheat grass juice bar)? Why not just join Equinox & get Whoop? (we need to focus on real human interpretation + peer nudge + repeatable social experiences). Why not just use bodyspec & fx health? (focus on metabolic trends, force outputs, lactate acid, VO2max โ weekly trendlines > quaterly/annual biomarkers. -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ How do we differentiate when there are so many premium gyms and workout clubs? (quick googling around, zero healthspan hub). How will this be any different than biograph, longevity clinics, lifeforce? (a weekly routine pit stop produces 10-15x higher frequency than Fx & Insidetracker. -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ note to self, we should think about this as a physical node that can build up ongoing behavior graph). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ note to self: don't have venture backed thesis yet (for example, if hardware is hard, then physical retail is impossible, it won't scale, capex, staffing, slow to build, so many failed startups e.g. forward health, doctor in a box failed after $600M raised by former Google X executives). -
Dexa scan machines (GE Lunar vs. Hologic). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ personal evidence (Jan - July 2025); starting point was to improve cardio load (HR, V02max, sustained anaerobic distance zone 2), so apple watch ultra 2 was more than sufficient, since July - now, goal is to improve recovery (sleep, HRV), so upgraded to apple watch ultra 3 (longer battery life). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ in the running community, we always reference the runners bible "advanced marathoning" , it does a great job of breaking down training load, warmups, cooldowns, and pacing schedule for each marathon buildups. -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ foot pods & many other tools maybe incrementally helpful. I can only draw from running experience, for example, elites and pro runners are all wearing this $299 pods, but biomechanics for running is so hard to change, does the same apply for basketball? Meaning, will you be able to change the way you jump, perform lateral movements? -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ overall, I think the biggest 10x unlock is learning about spaciong, shot selection, closeouts, schemaโฆ these improvements come of filming session. Pro players across all sports (NFL, NBA, MLSโฆ) all have film sessions, (Kobe was crazy about analyzing his game play and study other players). -
๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Springbok using MRI + AI is interestingโฆ potentially taking the Ezra or Prenuvno route. However, all these MRI/fMRI machines require certified radiologists. General costs are around $2k - $3k.
